Our 2024 activity report looks back over 60 years of commitment to international solidarity, driven by innovation and long-standing partnerships.
60 years

A message from the General Secretary
Benoit De Waegeneer
In 2024, Humundi celebrated 60 years of commitment to a fairer food future. Sixty years of active solidarity, deeply rooted projects, and farmer-led innovation. This milestone year was an opportunity to reaffirm our direction: in the face of crises, strengthen cooperation — even in the most fragile contexts — and build resilient food systems grounded in agroecology. Across our work in Africa, Latin America, and Belgium, one common thread runs through it all: cultivating a more equitable world, together with those who, every day, make food more dignified and accessible for all.

60 years of Humundi
A lasting commitment to cultivating a fairer world
The year 2024 marked a key moment for Humundi with the celebration of our 60 years of commitment to a fairer world without hunger, during an evening organised in October 2024 as part of the 16th edition of the Alimenterre Festival, bringing together all those who, over the decades, have contributed to writing the history of our organisation.

Our anniversary campaign
To mark our 60th anniversary, we launched the digital campaign ‘So that the Earth remains the source of life’, reaffirming our commitment to human rights and the preservation of the planet. It was also an opportunity to look back at key moments in our history.

Publications & Podcasts
to understand and take action
Between podcasts and written analyses, Humundi gives a voice to those involved in the farming world. Our flagship podcast 2024 puts the rural realities of the DRC and Belgium into dialogue, while our magazines Défis Sud, Phosphore and Dynamiques Paysannes explore technological sovereignty, agriculture in the face of climate change and local supply chains. All tools for understanding, linking and transforming agri-food systems.

Uprising or gardening?
a new way to take action
In 2024, Humundi is offering a new immersive animation combining videos and illustrated maps to explore concrete ways of taking action to tackle the food crisis. Integrated into the CNCD-11.11.11 kit, it stimulates debate and commitment and offers practical resources via a notebook and a dedicated web page.
