Together
more than ever !

Our 2025 report looks back on a year of solidarity in a world marked by crises, but also on very concrete actions carried out alongside farming communities around the world.

Together with our partners, we supported more than 1.5 million families in improving their living conditions and access to food.

Solidarity: our response to a changing world

2025 was a year of turbulence. Budget cuts in development cooperation, the rise of populism, climate and food crises, and agricultural tensions in Europe… In Belgium too, certain political choices are weakening partnerships built over more than six decades.

In the face of uncertainty, Humundi and its partners continue to sustain an evolving model of international cooperation—one that can adapt without compromising its convictions.

Together, we continue to move toward a shared goal: building food systems that are fairer, more sustainable, and more resilient. Our actions in Africa, Latin America, and Belgium are transforming the lives of rural youth in Mali, women farmers in Ethiopia, communities in Bolivia, and livestock farmers in Peru, while strengthening our collective capacity to take action.

More than an organization, Humunfi is a collective movement working both locally and globally to bring lasting change to food systems.

Humundi weeks: coming together to act more effectively

The Humundi Weeks brought together our teams from Africa, Latin America, and Belgium in Brussels to share experiences and strategies. In a context marked by climate and security crises, as well as declining funding, these exchanges have become all the more meaningful.

Amid fragile field conditions and strong collective energy, the 2025 edition highlights realities that often remain unseen, yet are essential.

From the Sahel to Peru, concrete actions show that it is still possible to make a difference in complex contexts.

Far more than an internal gathering, this is a key moment to rethink international cooperation.

Making farmers’ voices heard

In 2025, in a tense political and trade context, Humundi and its partners stepped up their advocacy to defend fairer and more sustainable food systems.

In Belgium, Europe, and internationally, we carried the voices of farmers to influence agricultural, trade, and climate policies, with concrete progress such as the ban on exporting pesticides that are prohibited in Belgium.

A common thread runs through all these efforts: recognizing farmers as central actors in the solutions.

470 future agronomists learn to change the world

In 2025, Humundi continued its work with agronomy students, as well as students from other fields, to connect their future professions with the challenges of sustainable food systems.

Through our JAGROS and DJESA projects, young people were engaged through innovative formats combining dialogue, workshops, and improvisation, encouraging them to reflect on the food system and explore concrete, sustainable pathways for action.

One conviction guides this work: today’s young professionals are the actors of tomorrow’s transition.

AlimenTERRE: cinema as a driver of transition

In 2025, our AlimenTERRE Festival offered a lighter edition in Belgium, taking the form of a one-day reflection and co-creation event in Brussels, in preparation for its new momentum in 2026.

At the same time, the movement continued to expand internationally, notably in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with the AlimenTERRE Village, as well as in Burkina Faso and Senegal, where the festivals brought together thousands of participants around agroecology.

Everywhere, the same goal: to use cinema and storytelling to transform our imaginaries and support the food transition.
